The American Business Immigration Coalition (ABIC) promotes common sense immigration reform that
advances economic competitiveness, provides companies with both the high-skilled and low-skilled talent they
need, and allows the integration of immigrants into our economy as consumers, workers, entrepreneurs, and
citizens.


ABIC is active in key states and communities across the country, engaging activists, advocates, business
leaders, and elected officials on the urgency of passing immigration reform that boosts our economy, creates
jobs, eases the labor shortage, and supports families. The goal of our bipartisan coalition of over 1500+ diverse
businesses and business associations is to provide a strong and effective voice seeking sensible immigration
reforms to grow our economy and strengthen our families. Currently, ABIC is active in 17 states including
Illinois, Florida, Texas, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, South Carolina, North Carolina, Colorado,
Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Arizona, Idaho, Utah, Georgia, and Nevada.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The American Business Immigration Coalition seeks to hire a qualified and experienced individual as a
full-time Texas Deputy Director beginning in 2023.


The Deputy Director will work directly with American Business Immigration Coalition staff and its consultants
and will focus primarily on building business support for immigrants in Texas and sensible immigration
solutions in Texas and at the federal level.

To succeed in this position, the individual must be able to manage expectations and meet deadlines, organize
and present information, pay attention to detail, maintain confidentiality, demonstrate honesty and
trustworthiness and make a solid, positive impact. The new hire must be self-motivated, responsible, and able
to work independently.

The Deputy Director will become a critical and valued part of the campaign to protect immigrants in Texas and
build a vibrant single-issue, bipartisan, pro-immigration business coalition. Salary is commensurate with
experience.


RESPONSIBILITIES
● Serve as a public facing leader for ABIC’s work in Texas,
● Build relationships with key business leaders and organizations, recruit CEOs of major corporations to
publicly support common sense immigration solutions, manage business and CEO engagement,
coalition organizing, and other in-state outreach on behalf of ABIC,
● Help develop a distinct and unique center-right approach tailored to Texas,
● Coordinate ongoing engagement for business leaders and coalition members on issues of immigration
fairness, including facilitating op-eds, public letters, and coalition calls, meetings, and press events,
● Engage with major donors, corporate partners, and others to drive coalition fundraising,
● Work with communications consultants to direct engagement and relationships with the media,
● Assist in management of other in-state consultants and additional coalition hires,
● Partner effectively with ABIC allies across the political spectrum,
● Actively support other ABIC programs as needed such as Small Business Technical Assistance, a
national program supporting small businesses in pandemic recovery efforts,
● Develop working relationships with Federal, State, and Local lawmakers and their offices across Texas,
● Travel to national staff events and throughout Texas for meetings, events, and advocacy activities,
● Respond quickly to rapid-response situations.
QUALIFICATIONS
● A deep commitment to advocating for a path to citizenship and comfort and ease advocating for
undocumented immigrants,
● 2 to 5 years of direct experience in political, grassroots, or fundraising activities,
● Exceptional communication skills (interpersonal, written, and verbal),
● Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite,
● Spanish language proficiency is preferred but not required,
● Experience with EveryAction and Asana preferred,
● Although position is remote, applicants must reside in Texas.

Compensation: This position will be full-time. Please note all salaries are commensurate with experience. ABIC also
